Beach Volley is a traditional sport in Brazil. The national team has won many competitions in both international and Olympic levels. Rio de Janeiro is an ideal place to practice beach volley because of the combination of great sandy beaches with excellent weather conditions. Beach volley in Rio is strongly associated with a casual, beach-centric lifestyle and it became very popular among its inhabitants when the beach culture emerged in the 1950’s.

The courts where beach volley is practised are usually crowded in the most popular beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema. During weekends the most experienced players take over the courts and it is hard for an amateur to join a game. Free courts are available in weekdays during mornings until 3 pm. After this time, organized teams usually arrive and start playing a more professional game. Taking Beach Volley lessons, which are always available in the mornings, is the best way to start practicing this amazing sport.

When playing Beach Volley in Rio, it is recommended to put on a strong sun screen lotion to avoid sun burnings. It is really easy to forget about the sun damages when you get involved and excited playing Volley in Rio’s stunning beaches.
