This thematic and attractive city has become a hub of the most typical brazilian art. It is located where carioca samba was born, and consequently, the area has been for a long time an icon of the Carnival in Rio.

The architectural design of the city –that includes the neighborhoods of Saúde, Santo Cristo and Gamboa- presents a geometrical figure in which the buildings surround the main square forming a large circle. The aim was to represent the world of the samba embracing its african ancestors, who brought during the 17th and 18th centuries traces of their rich culture, incorporating new traditions to the brazilian culture.

With the creation of the City of Samba, the carioca festive atmosphere can be palpable the whole year, which means you won’t have to wait for Carnival to delight your senses with the colorful experience of Carioca Carnival. In your visit to the city -which may take you a whole day- visitors can attend samba dance shows, follow the building of wagons and get to know the dressmaking of the costumes as well as join in rehearsals with the rest of the brazilians.

The Samba City opens daily for tourists, offering guided tours, except on tuesdays. Every thursday nights, the Samba City gives a complete carnival night-show, in which food, drinks, samba and lot of fun are guaranteed. Those who will travel to Rio can't miss this unique cultural attraction.
