Copacabana Fortress
Join the history and tradition that is still protected at the Copacabana Fortress.
The Copacabana Fortress is located on Praça Cel and was built in 1914 to reinforce the Guanabara Bay’s defense. A few years later, in 1922, it was scenario of the “Lieutenants’ Movement”, a Brazilian political movement. Check availability, prices and BOOK YOUR TOUR TO COPACABANA.
Nowadays it integrates the Brazilian Army’s Historical Museum, thus part of the colonial heritage -such as collections of guns and military objects- is exhibited. Although the exhibition isn’t well accomplished, it is a must for those history lovers who travel to Rio.
It opens from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 8 pm.
